Welcome to the An Post Museum & Archive (Irish Postal Heritage GPO) blog page.
The Irish Post Office
The Irish Post Office has been intimately conencted with the history and development of Irish society for generations and its headquarters, Dublin’s General Post Office, holds a unique place in the hearts of Irish people as the HQ of the leaders of the 1916 rebellion. Based in the GPO the An Post Museum & Archive aims to preserve and promote interest in Ireland’s postal heritage. Our museum in the GPO and its exhibition, Letters, Lives & Liberty, had to close to make way for a new 1916 visitor centre but we continue to maintain an on-line presence and display elements of our collections as opportunities arise.
